I think this might make me some type of grade-A weirdo, but I tear up every time I look through Dan + Nora's wedding gallery. Every. Single. Time. Even though I am self conscious of this fact (haha), I think there is something to be said about their wonderfulness, considering that...
So, let me just tell you something: Brooke is one of the funniest, most charismatic, and all sorts of hilarious people you could ever hope to meet. There's something about her funny way that is so direct and endearing, you can't help but fall in love with her. I know that's how she first charmed Paul... ;)
Last year, I made a commitment to give away one free wedding package each year to a couple who had lost a parent. My mom passed away before I was married, and not having her on my wedding day with me was heartbreaking. There is so much community in loss. It's an odd community. A bittersweet one. But a community, nonetheless...
I think Fempreneur sessions are hard to put into words. Technically, it's a little bit of portrait work, a little bit of detail work, a little bit of staging... Personally, it's a lot of opening up, it's a lot of sharing, it's a lot of connecting.
I'm not going to lie, it can be scary. Connection is scary. Emotion is scary. Opening your world up to THE world is scary, but I have to tell you...
I think I must call everyone "dear" and "sweet." But seriously - Michael and Emily truly are some of the most dear people I have ever met. They are genuine in everything they do and take care of - their work, their families, their friends, their love. Even on her own wedding day, Emily scooped me up and made me feel welcomed and appreciated, all while scurrying around, gathering last-minute items, and hold a glass of champagne.
Okay. Now that you've been all up in my brain with my scaredy-cat feelings and my type-A planning tendencies, I'm sure you'd love to know the ups and downs of working on my recent styled shoot. Below are things that went REALLY WELL, as well as things that I could have done better. As Ben Sassosays, As you improve, we all improve. Community over competition, friends. :)
Today, I choose to remember this day.
September. Sunny, sunny, sunny. Bright. Warm. A glistening lake. A faint breeze. Nautical themes. Streamers. Quiet excitement. Contented joy. Tea. Close dancing. Underlying blessings. Promises exchanged. Promises received.
Sarah + Bobby, your day will always be a treasure.
Two of my favorite things are kind souls and iced coffee. So, it only made sense that my consultation with Dan and Sevim would be over one of the most delicious cups of iced coffee I have ever had (thanks for your generosity, friends!).
Dan and Sevim are dear, dear souls. Dan is hilarious and warm; Sevim is sweet, compassionate, and all things beauty. How blessed I am to share their engagement images with you, and to share in their wedding day during the upcoming 2016 season! <3
When I think of a perfect summer day, I think of Josh and Beckah's wedding. Everything about it was beautiful from start to finish. I could relive their day over and over - full of Jon Foreman soundtracks, lace gowns, dried flowers, mason jars, sparklers, twinkle lights, soft breezes, and open fields.
