Hollow Brook Golf Club Wedding // Ilana + Andrew
Hollow Brook Golf Club sits in Cortlandt Manor, New York, with rolling fairways and a warm, elegant clubhouse that turns especially cozy in the fall. It's a beautiful spot for a wedding any time of year, but Ilana and Andrew's late September wedding here showed off exactly why this venue works so well for couples who want their day to feel both polished and relaxed. This one also happened to kick off a triple wedding weekend for me (three weddings back to back!). It made for a wonderful start to the run, and I've loved this one ever since. Here's a look inside their day.
The Couple
Ilana teaches high school history, and Andrew teaches elementary special ed. They met working at the same school, and there's an easy back and forth between them - the kind that comes from truly feeling at home with each other.
They described themselves as low key folks. They love good food, good beer, time with family and friends, a trip somewhere new during their summers off. They have a dog they adore. And they're big fans of The Office - enough so that they offered temporary tattoos of iconic Office moments at their cocktail hour (a dream detail, if you know me!).
Ilana described Andrew as the most patient and kind person you could ever meet, and that held up over the course of the day. He stayed steady and happy through all the usual wedding day chaos, and it was easy to see why she loves that about him.
The Venue
The clubhouse has a classic country club look, dark wood and big windows, without feeling stiff or overly formal. Late September gave us the golf course just starting to soften its greenery, and the setting matched the fall color palette almost perfectly.
There’s so much variety at Hollow Brook. The grounds gave us plenty of room to wander for photos without ever feeling like we were fighting the light or the layout.
The Details
The color palette followed the season closely. Warm, bright florals in deep oranges and yellows stood out against navy and dark green bridesmaid dresses and black suits. It read as fall without tipping into anything overly rustic.
The Office tattoos were a favorite detail of mine - any fan of The Office is a star in my book.
The Reception
The reception was mostly just a big party. Good food, good drinks, and a room full of people they loved. Ilana and Andrew have a lovely community in all who surrounds them.
The dance floor was packed all night, kicked off with bubble guns, and it felt exciting from the very beginning.
Ilana and Andrew's day was full of the things they genuinely love, each other, their people, and a little bit of The Office mixed in. It was such a joy to spend the day with two people who are so clearly a good match.
From the Couple
“If you have found yourself considering Erica and the Sweet Alice Photography team…stop looking and BOOK, like immediately. Erica is one gem of a human being. She pours her heart and spirit into her job - and she makes you feel immediately at ease and confident in yourself. Erica and the Sweet Alice team were the first and only photography vendor we looked at, and after meeting with Erica on Zoom, we knew that we just had to have her photograph our wedding day.
Erica is kind and so welcoming - making you feel as if you've known her for years, when it's only been minutes. She is so skilled and talented, and takes any vision you have and literally executes it to perfection. For our engagement session, we plainly asked if we could go to our favorite bar in our town and then walk the river front and take fun, relaxed photos and boy, did Erica deliver. She made the entire session go by in a blink of an eye, and made us so comfortable being in front of the camera.
Leading up to our wedding day, she was communicative and responsive, and the use of the her website was so seamless; we put our entire trust in her and her team to capture our wedding and our favorite people. In the lead-up, Erica sent us sweet gifts [as well as gifts for our puppy Wolfgang - like seriously she is so thoughtful and amazing] which added so much excitement leading up to the wedding day.
On our wedding day, everything went so perfectly. Erica and one of her team members arrived and immediately sprung into action - they were so knowledgeable, so kind, and so patient with everyone involved in the wedding day. They worked so well with our venue and everything just fell into place. There were no worries or concerns or feeling like something was overlooked - they had literally everything down to a science - so you didn't have to worry about a thing.
They made EVERYONE feel special and feel seen. They captured our day to perfection and it is such a joy to look throguh all our photographs and see every single one of our favorite people enjoying the moment, enjoying each other, and you can just feel the joy and love, from the getting ready shots, to the ceremony, and all the dancing and celebrating at the reception. The photos she took of us are just so beautiful and magazine worthy.
Erica is so timely and sends back previews and the final shots so quickly - everyone was so excited [and kinda shocked!] to know that our photos were already done and had come out so, so beautifully. Erica captured us so perfectly and all of our photos feel so organic and reflective of who we are. I cannot recommend Erica and the Sweet Alice team more - her prices are fair, and include so much - and you cannot ask for a better person to work alongside with. You will not regret your choice in booking with Erica and the Sweet Alice team - honestly it'll be your easiest decision!”
