West Hills Country Club Wedding // Johana + Paul

Johana and Paul got married at West Hills Country Club in Middletown, New York, a venue that lends itself beautifully to a full wedding day, from getting ready all the way through the reception, with a golf course and a bridge on the grounds that make for stunning portraits. But more than the venue, what defined this day was the couple at the center of it. Johana and Paul brought an ease and warmth to everything that made the whole day feel genuinely celebratory from start to finish.

The Couple

Johana and Paul came to me through Kerry and Rob, past clients who are very dear to me and who were also guests at the wedding. I always love when that happens. From the moment I arrived, these two were just happy. Relaxed, warm, completely at ease with each other and with everyone around them. They laughed through the whole day, moved through the timeline without a moment of stress, and were so clearly excited to be getting married. There is a particular kind of couple that fills a wedding day with genuine joy rather than performed joy, and Johana and Paul are that. It showed in every single photo we got to create together.

The Venue

West Hills Country Club in Middletown handled the full day beautifully. Johana and Paul opted not to do a first look, so my second photographer and I spent the pre-ceremony time with each of them separately before bringing everyone together after the ceremony for portraits. From there, we headed out onto the golf course, which offers open, expansive views and light that just sits beautifully in the late afternoon. The bridge on the property is a favorite at this venue, and we took a good amount of photos there. The wedding party in all black against all the green of the course looked so striking, and Johana's lace gown caught the light outdoors in the best possible way.

The Details

The aesthetic of the day was glam with a softness to it. White florals accented with blush ran throughout, and the overall palette felt timeless and considered. Johana's lace gown was absolutely beautiful, and her change into a little party dress for the reception was such a perfect move. Paul's black and white suit was sharp and pulled everything together. Every detail felt thoughtfully chosen without being fussy.

The Reception

The reception at West Hills was a full celebration in every sense. Johana and Paul incorporated wonderful traditions into the evening, and the room rose to meet every single one of them. The dance floor was packed all night, the emotion was real, and seeing Kerry and Rob out there celebrating right alongside everyone else made the night feel especially full. The whole evening had that quality where you can tell nobody wants it to end. It was pure perfection, and I remember feeling a little sad that it was over as I packed up my gear at the end of the evening.

Johana and Paul, what a wonderful day you had, and what genuinely lovely people you are.
