There's something about an April wedding that just feels cozy and right. Maybe it's the unpredictability of the weather, or the way everything is coming back to life, or just that specific quality of spring light. Whatever it is, Janine and Brian leaned all the way into it for their wedding at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie - wind, overcast skies, and all.
THE COUPLE
Janine and Brian got married at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie after seven years together. Seven years means you know each other - really know each other. These two were comfortable, connected, totally in sync.
Janine is one of those genuinely caring people who notices things, who pays attention. Brian is basically a golden retriever in human form - enthusiastic, warm, and just radiates good energy. Together they make sense in that easy way that comes from actually knowing someone inside and out.
THE VENUE
They picked April specifically because they think it's the most beautiful time of year. All that rebirth and new beginning energy that comes with spring - they wanted that for their wedding day. They were after spring garden vibes, and here's what we loved: they were actually happy about the idea of rain. Not just willing to deal with it, but genuinely into the thought of spring rain on their wedding day.
What they got was wind and overcast skies, which they loved just as much. Sometimes the moody, dramatic version of spring is even better than the sunny one.
THE DETAILS
The color palette was blues and greens with pops of color in the florals - fresh and garden-like without being too matchy. Janine got ready in the cottage on site, which has incredible natural light. Her dress had a lace bodice and satin skirt, and Brian wore a navy suit.
The ceremony happened outside, right next to where they'd have the reception. Wind in their hair, gray skies overhead, everything feeling very alive and very spring.
THE RECEPTION
The reception was exactly what you'd want: lively, fun, full of moments that mattered. People laughing, people dancing, people genuinely happy to be there celebrating these two.
After seven years and one perfectly imperfect April day, they were married.
