Sometimes you connect with someone on Instagram and wonder if you'll ever actually meet in person. Christine and I had been following each other for years before I finally got to photograph her and Zack's wedding at Pleasantly Devine Stables in Rock Tavern. The wait was worth it.
THE COUPLE
Christine is an artist (I even have some of her work on my walls!) and an accountant - two things that don't always go together but make perfect sense when you meet her. Zack is a chef. Together, they own the Ice Jam Inn in the Adirondacks, where I got to stay when photographing their engagement session. The inn itself is beautiful and cozy, and the restaurant? Incredible.
Christine and Zack are warm and genuinely friendly people. The kind of good souls who love dogs, Harry Potter, and Star Wars. They picked May 4 as their wedding date as a nod to the latter, because why not?
THE VENUE
The day started with a church ceremony where Christine's uncle sang - one of those personal touches that makes everything feel more meaningful. Then everyone headed to Pleasantly Devine Stables for the reception. The property is stunning: lush greenery everywhere, a gorgeous pond complete with ducks (!), and so many perfect spots for photos. We ended up photographing all over the place - by the pond and among the greenery, with those ducks making cameo appearances.
THE DETAILS
Christine's dress was entirely unique and entirely her. Lace with sleeves that moved like a cape - regal and whimsical at the same time. The wedding party wore dark teal, gray, and blue, which looked beautiful against all the greenery.
They went for a cozy floral vibe with white and slightly colorful florals mixed with lots of greenery. And candles - candles everywhere throughout the reception. It created this warm, intimate atmosphere even in a bigger space.
THE RECEPTION
The reception was a party. You could feel how much their families love them, especially Christine's mom - the pride and joy were just radiating off her all night. People were dancing, laughing, celebrating these two people who clearly mean so much to so many.
After years of Instagram connection, an engagement session in the Adirondacks, and finally their wedding day, I'm so glad I got to be part of Christine and Zack's story. May the Fourth was definitely with them.
FROM THE COUPLE
“If I could fit every positive adjective from the English language here to describe Erica, I would. We are so grateful to have her a part of our wedding journey. From day one, she has carefully listened to our needs and our vision to make the experience perfect for us. She is not only professional, but she truly cares about her clients, and showed it every time we spoke.
I have been following Erica on social media for years now and knew before we were engaged that I wanted her as our wedding photographer. Her images capture the pure love and authenticity of her couples. Not all images are candid, but they look it. She is a beam of joy and light, so every session with her was comfortable and fun. At one point, I expressed to her some of my insecurities when it came to having my photo taken. She was empathetic and considerate and provided me with some tips. On the day of our engagement session, she gave me subtle cues and I knew she was taking care of me.
Erica is simply one of the kindest souls I have met in my life. She made this whole journey an experience instead of a transaction of a service. Her second photographer, Debbie, was also a gem. You can tell that Erica takes her time to find people that align with her business values. We would recommend her and her team to anyone and everyone looking for a photographer.”
