Tara + George // A Lush Blush July Wedding at West Hills Country Club in Middletown, NY
It’s funny what you can forget about a wedding day…but what pictures can bring rushing back to the forefront of your mind like a special gift.
Briella + Zach // A Meaningful Mountain-View Wedding at Hudson Valley Weddings at the Hill in Hudson, NY
When I walked down the aisle at my own wedding, I carried two bouquets - one for myself, and one for my mom. At the head of the aisle, before I joined hands with my husband, I laid my mom’s bouquet on her chair. The chair was empty, but it was reserved for her. I have so many memories of my wedding day, but that still, small moment of resting that bouquet there felt incredibly, peacefully solitary. I was surrounded by so many people, being watched by so many hearts, but that moment felt like an embrace - a private moment between me and my mom. She wasn’t there…but she was. I know she was…
Rachael + Keith // A Vintage Geometric Wedding at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, CT
Naturally, wedding days are beautiful days. They can’t help it. Just like how babies are cute, weddings are beautiful, and that’s that.
Top 12 Tips for a Wedding Day
After photographing nearly 100 weddings, I feel like I can finally get all up in this space, and share my top twelve tips to remember when planning (and during!) your wedding day…
Mary + Matt // A Destination Wedding at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, FL
Many of my fondest college memories begin with the statement, “RA!” (Read that in all of the exuberance that those two letters could ever possibly hold in a greeting.) As a college student, I was a Resident Assistant for a few years, and my perfect little Mary was one of my very favorite residents. I would often come back to my room with notes from her left on the whiteboard on my door - often they would just say, “RA!” Sometimes, they had a little more substance. She echoed this greeting every time I saw her - in the cafeteria, in the hallway, in class… Mary exemplified joy and excitement in every way possible.
Krista + Brett // A Snowy Wedding at Highlands Country Club in Garrison, NY
I received an Instagram message from darling Krista a few weeks ago, telling me that, even now, months and months after her wedding day, she and Brett are still so in love with their wedding photos. Basically, my heart burst. What a beautiful, thoughtful, kind, amazing thing to share….
Claudia + Dylan // A Sunset Winter Wedding at Whitby Castle in Rye, NY
One day, when Claudia + Dylan are old and gray, they'll look back at their wedding day and remember how absolutely adorable and sweet and perfect it was. Heck, they do that now, and it hasn't even been a full year since they got married…
Abbi + Ray // A Warm Winery Wedding at Magnanini Winery's Two Hearts Vineyard in Wallkill, NY
I sing Abbi's praises everywhere I go - really, I do. I can't help it. Abbi is one of the kindest, dearest, sweetest, most genuine, gorgeous-inside-and-out people I know. When my business was first expanding, she acted as my assistant on wedding days…
Jillian + Scott // An Outdoor October Wedding in New Windsor, NY
My girl Jillian is the sweetest ever. From our first diner coffee date to our time together at her wedding, I couldn't help but to be obsessed with her. Her sweetness, kindness, compassion, and concern for others is so evident in everything she does. She is so adored by everyone around her, and it is the most beautiful thing to see…
Gabby + Mike // A Golden Hour Wedding at The Country Club at Otterkill in Campbell Hall, NY
Oh, it is so hard to put wedding days into words, isn't it? Maybe descriptive cut scenes are better - a mash up of adjectives and nouns to best explain the nuances.
The small, fragile hands buttoning Gabby's gown. The smile you couldn't wipe off her face if you tried. The way Mike read his card from Gabby with such care. The helping hands he was to his groomsmen even thought it was his wedding day. The taste of the end of summer on the breeze at the ceremony, and in the sun as it began to go down after the recessional...
Lauren + Andrew // A Warm Fall Farm Wedding at Owls Hoot Barn in Coxsackie, NY
It didn't take much for me to realize that Lauren and I would be fast friends from the day that we met. I remember vividly our first conversation over coffee (and omelettes? I think), and having a sense that this girl was one of the good ones...
Nora + Dan // A Blush and Navy September Wedding at Highlands Country Club in Garrison, NY
I think this might make me some type of grade-A weirdo, but I tear up every time I look through Dan + Nora's wedding gallery. Every. Single. Time. Even though I am self conscious of this fact (haha), I think there is something to be said about their wonderfulness, considering that...
Client Gifts
One of my very favorite things is spoiling my couples. I love to give tangible gifts (and I'm pretty sure my sweet couples love to receive them), so it really is a win-win. :)
Wedding Day Timeline Guidelines
The day-of timeline can sometimes be one of the more daunting aspects of planning a wedding day. Most standard wedding photography contracts cover 8 hours, and it can sometimes seem disingenuous to seemingly try to cram months and months of planning into 8 hours of photos. Trust me: it can be done - and is done well, and regularly. :)
Alyson's Orchard Wedding Day for Erin + Ben // A Rustic Wedding in Walpole, NH
When I lived in Massachusetts, Erin was one of my very favorite coworkers. Her love of The Office, cats, and sweet things solidified our friendship early. She was someone I could always take a trip upstairs to visit, and count on her kind, funny, and welcoming demeanor...
Julia + Bart // A Classic Summer Wedding at the Chocksett Colonial Inn in Sterling, MA
Wedding days are always so obviously filled with tangible beauty. Gorgeous gowns, perfect hair, tailored suits, luxurious gifts. But what makes them special, unique, and worth every ounce of effort put into planning them...is the intangible beauty; the beauty you can't see, but can feel. The laughter. The tears. The sweet phrases. The hugs, kisses, and awestruck wonder of new beginnings...
Allie + Miles // A Bright Backyard Wedding in New Paltz, NY
I drove into Brooklyn recently, and all I could think about was these two sweet souls' August wedding day. Driving in a snowstorm, and all I could focus on was that I was going to visit Allie + Miles' neighborhood(ish), and how beautiful their wedding day was...
Brooke + Paul // An Historic Estate Wedding at Locust Grove in Poughkeepsie, NY
So, let me just tell you something: Brooke is one of the funniest, most charismatic, and all sorts of hilarious people you could ever hope to meet. There's something about her funny way that is so direct and endearing, you can't help but fall in love with her. I know that's how she first charmed Paul... ;)
Alexa + Joe // A Disney Inspired Wedding in Moonachie, NJ
Last year, I made a commitment to give away one free wedding package each year to a couple who had lost a parent. My mom passed away before I was married, and not having her on my wedding day with me was heartbreaking. There is so much community in loss. It's an odd community. A bittersweet one. But a community, nonetheless...
Katie + Eytan // An Elegant Backyard Wedding in Mount Kisco, NY
How to adequately write about Katie + Eytan's gorgeous backyard wedding? I have no good words to describe the colorful hydrangeas, the precious sunshine mixed with rain, the whimsical gown, the elegant guests, the incredible band. I have no words to explain Eytan's bow when he saw Katie walk down the aisle, no words to express Katie's dad's sweet expressions, no words to capture Katie's calm and sweet and dear demeanor, no words to hold on to the heart flutters of everyone who was captivated by Katie + Eytan's duet at the end of their reception...
