The Barns at Wesleyan Hills Wedding // Kari Jo + Andrew

When choosing images for this blog post, I couldn’t stop smiling and tearing up.

Y’all, this day was just SO GOOD. Incredibly romantic, unbelievably authentic, beautifully intentional. It had everything precious included in it: ducks as ring bearers, a donut wall, the most meaningful chuppah. Not to mention the love between Kari Jo + Andrew, which felt almost tangible. Moving in their midst to photograph them felt like walking across clouds. Easy, soft, kind. I was completely taken with them.

THE COUPLE

Kari Jo + Andrew had a story similar to that of star-crossed lovers. They knew each other when they were younger, disconnected, and then reconnected years later. Now, they live in a sweet little home full of pets - and shouldn’t that actually be the American dream?

Their feelings and appreciation of each other is mutual in the most beautiful of ways. They are true partners, and it’s evident in every interaction witnessed and photograph taken of the two of them together.

THE VENUE

The Barns at Wesleyan Hills is a striking venue. It’s rustic and beautiful without being too spaced out. There are multiple locations to take photos all within short walking distance of each other that offer plenty of opportunity for a varied gallery.

While the location was gorgeous, an added plus was that Kari Jo + Andrew specifically asked for a vegan menu, which was delicious and a huge hit with the guests.

THE DETAILS

Kari Jo + Andrew wanted a slight 1920s theme for their wedding, which you can see from the design of the invitation and some of the wardrobe that the wedding party wore. If there’s one thing I love, it’s a good homage to the 1920s. The fashion is and was so striking and sleek with a nice side of romance.

The florals chosen were somewhat muted in color, yet voluminous. Give me all of the big roses and trailing eucalyptus, please and thank you.

THE RECEPTION

Kari Jo and Andrew’s reception space was in the barn on the property. Although the barn is not huge, it allowed for ample space for tables and a sweet dance party. The dance floor was set up in the middle of the barn which allowed for everyone to watch all of the special dances and have easy access to the dance floor themselves.

One of my favorite parts of the reception was Kari Jo’s dance with her mom. It was a gift to behold.

I am a romantic when it comes to other people’s wedding days. Even if something happens to go amiss on a wedding day, I often forget that and tend to look back on just about every wedding with rose-colored glasses.

But I don’t need to wear those rose-colored glasses when remembering Kari Jo + Andrew’s wedding, though, because everything actually was perfect.

And it was perfect long before the wedding day. Because the two of them are perfect together.

Kari Jo + Andrew, you two are a gift to humanity. I’m so glad we are connected. 💕
