Fortina Wedding // Marissa + Anthony

Sometimes the universe sends you people who are just an absolute delight to spend time with and take care of - Marissa and Anthony were two of those people for me. From the moment I chatted with Marissa, I knew I wanted to spend her wedding day with her and her fiance. They are some of the warmest and funniest people I have ever met.

I mean, when the inquiry form starts off with, “First I must say..his last name is Corona. Yes, you read that right...CORONA! At first I was excited to have that last name and then something happened in the last year and a half lol,” how can you not be enamored from the start?

THE COUPLE

Marissa and Anthony were together for 12 years before planning their microwedding. In their inquiry, they noted they wanted to forego the pomp and circumstance of a traditional larger wedding so that they could really just enjoy their wedding as a small celebration where they could feel most like themselves. They kept the majority of their plans secret until about a month before the wedding, when they shared invitations with the 20 people in attendance. It was a surprise, with a month’s notice.

Although this is unusual, I didn’t get a chance to meet Anthony until the day of the wedding, and while I already knew Marissa was my favorite type of client, meeting Anthony solidified them as a favorite pair. They are both warm and kind and emotional and dear.

THE VENUE

Fortina Pizza in Armonk, NY is an absolutely perfect place to host a small wedding reception. Marissa and Anthony hosted their ceremony in the park across the street, and were then able to walk over to the restaurant to enjoy their dinner with family and friends. Fortina is beautiful, with rustic industrial elements, and the staff were incredibly lovely, kind, and attentive.

THE DETAILS

While microweddings often aren’t heavy on details, Marissa and Anthony had a few that were absolutely darling:

  • Their photo wall with their last name in neon lights

  • The photo of their t ball team from elementary school

  • Their custom napkins

And, yes, as they mentioned in their original inquiry, their last name is Corona - a darkly humorous fact, considering the 18 months before their wedding had been fraught with the coronavirus pandemic.

THE RECEPTION

Marissa and Anthony’s reception was the sweetest little dinner party, filled with laughter, smiles, little dances, a few toasts, and pizza. It was everything a fall microwedding should be: a glorified family gathering.

Spending this warm November day with Marissa and Anthony was the most precious - 2 hours spent with 20 of the most endearing people. I wouldn’t have traded it for the world.
