Plan Bee Farm Brewery // Andie + Connor
Andie and Connor got married at Plan Bee Farm Brewery in Poughkeepsie, NY, with about 40 of their favorite people, a covered patio reception, goats, chickens, and bees as guests of honor, and food from Rossi's. Just the absolute cutest day!
The Couple
Andie and Connor make everything feel easy. For their microwedding, there was no fuss, no stress, no overly choreographed timeline to stick to. They got ready together that morning, which meant there was no first look, no big dramatic reveal. They just showed up to their own wedding as themselves, together, which honestly set the tone for the whole day. Andie works in the agriculture world, so a farm setting was not just a pretty backdrop for them - it genuinely made sense. Connor is an engineer, and you can tell he is the kind of person who thinks things through carefully and then commits fully once he decides. No full suit jacket, just a vest, and he looked completely at ease. Andie's gown was simple and elegant with a beautiful beaded top, and her twin sister Zoe officiated the ceremony. Having Zoe up there made the whole thing feel personal in a way that a stranger with an officiant script just cannot replicate. Andie and Connor were calm (yet excited!) and present all day, not caught up in logistics or running from one scheduled moment to the next. What you got was just two people who were genuinely happy to be getting married, surrounded by people who were genuinely happy to watch it happen. The guests, all roughly 40 of them, were warm and easy to be around. You could feel how much they all wanted to be there; it was a gift to witness their love for the couple, and their happiness at being with everyone around them.
The Venue
Plan Bee Farm Brewery in Poughkeepsie, NY is one of those places that does not need a lot of help. The grounds are lush and varied in a way that makes a photographer’s job genuinely fun - there are open rolling fields, textured landscaping, interesting pockets of shade and light, and the kind of natural backdrop that photographs beautifully without needing much staging at all.
The brewery sits on a small working farm, which means the environment feels lived-in and real rather than manicured and artificial. That matters a lot when you are trying to make portraits that actually look like the people in them. The ceremony was held outdoors in front of a wide open field, which gave everything a spacious, relaxed feel. It never felt cramped or like guests were squeezed into a corner somewhere. For a microwedding especially, the scale of the space felt just right - enough room for everyone to spread out and settle in, but intimate enough that the ceremony still felt close and personal. Plan Bee is also just a great spot in the Hudson Valley more broadly. If you have not been out there, it is worth a visit even just as a regular human who wants to enjoy a good beer and some nice scenery (it’s open to the public!).
The Details
Andie and Connor were not going for a maximalist aesthetic, and the details reflected that. The florals came from the farm itself, which meant Andie's bouquet and the dinner table arrangements had this organic, freshly cut quality to them that felt completely at home in that environment. Nothing looked like it had been sourced from a big box wholesaler and arranged to look “rustic” - it just looked (and was!) real. The food was catered by Rossi's, which if you are local to the area, you already know is a solid choice.
And then there were the farm animals. Plan Bee has goats right next to the reception patio, and chickens across the welcome lawn, and these little beings were, without question, a highlight for the guests. It was a great detail that Andie and Connor did not even have to plan - it just came with the venue.
The Reception
The reception was held on a covered patio, which kept everything comfortable and felt naturally connected to the outdoor setting. With 40 guests, dinner felt like exactly what it should at a microwedding: a real meal with people who actually know and love each other. Conversations were long, laughter was frequent, and nobody was sitting next to a stranger trying to make small talk because they had to. There was a looseness to the evening that you do not always get at larger weddings, where the schedule tends to drive everything. Here, things just unfolded. People lingered at the tables, moved around to visit with each other, and generally seemed to be having a really good time without needing to be prompted. Toasts were personal and kind. By the time the night wound down, it felt less like the end of a wedding and more like the end of a really good dinner party.
At the end of the night, I thought about the two cats waiting for them at home, and honestly that felt about right for Andie and Connor. A good wedding, good food, good people, and then home to the cats.
Andie and Connor, thank you for having me along for your wonderful day. Plan Bee Farm Brewery continues to be one of my favorite places to photograph in the Hudson Valley, and your day there was a really good one.
